Well, I don't really need it, but...
...I want a new laptop. I love my Gateway MX7120, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Gateway sets their laptops to begin to self-destruct at the 2-year mark. I purchased it in June of 2006 and suddenly in late June of 2008 things started to go awry. First it was the power button assembly, which I finally was able to get replaced. Then the AC power adapter went out. I bought a compatible replacement, but it works only when I sit in certain positions and sit VERY still, so as not to disturb the connection. Oh, and I mustn't brighten the screen or use any powerful program, such as "Google Earth", as that also disrupts the adapter's ability to power the laptop. I am reluctant to spend the money to get an original part. What's going to go wrong next? Grr!
My sister recently bought an ASUS "Eee", a small laptop with limited storage, which would be perfect for my laptop needs, and I am tempted to spend the approximately $500 to get one. However, DH has a laptop that he never uses and suggested that I just go ahead and use it all I want. That's the course of wisdom for now, so that's what I'm using. What was going to be a drag was importing all my many bookmarks to his laptop, but it was easy with Foxmarks, a Firefox add-on, which allowed me to do it in a couple of clicks, so now I'm happy. I still have a bit more customization to do, and a few more programs to download, but I'll soon have it like I want it. Yay!
It's partly cloudy today after a nice steady rain last evening. Hope the fall temperatures return soon!
