Disturbed!

OK, anyone can dial a wrong number. Some people can dial it twice. How many people can dial it more than FOUR times?

I work second shift. I need to sleep in. My cell phone is on 24/7 and I keep it by my bed at night in case the nursing home needs to call me about my mom, as has sometimes happened. At about 6:45 a.m. today my cell phone begins ringing with fax tones on the other end. This happens a few times and I save the number and set the number to a silent ring tone. Of course, then I have to silence the voice mail, too. Never can get back to sleep. At 8 a.m. I Google this number and find out it belongs to a local animal hospital. So I call and explain the situation and ask them not to call my cell phone again, that this is not a fax phone. They numbly acknowledge my call, not even apologizing for disturbing my sleep, but say they won't call again, so I remove the number from my phone. At 9 a.m. the cell phone calls start again. I call them again, explain the situation, ask them, more sternly this time, not to call again. They assure me they will not. And ten minutes later, they call my cell phone again. This time I call them back angrily, insisting they remove my cell number from their fax list. Finally someone there looks up the erroneous number and tells me they won't call again. They haven't. Thank goodness.

What was amazing to me about this encounter is that no one apologized until I asked for an apology, and that each office staff member I spoke with acted as if it was MY fault for having the number in the first place (I have had this cell phone number for quite some time). We have 3 dogs and 4 cats; if the lack of competency (and lack of courtesy) of the office staff is any indication of the type of care provided, I'll be sure never to take our furry family members there!

So now I am lacking sleep and have another sinus headache, to boot. Yes, I'm annoyed!!
